The official playscript of the original West End production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

The playscript for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was originally released as a 'special rehearsal edition' alongside the opening of Jack Thorne's play in London's West End in summer 2016. Based on an original story by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne, the play opened to rapturous reviews from theatregoers and critics alike, while the official playscript became an immediate global bestseller.

This definitive and final playscript updates the 'special rehearsal edition' with the conclusive and final dialogue from the play, which has subtly changed since its rehearsals, as well as a conversation piece between director John Tiffany and writer Jack Thorne, who share stories and insights about reading playscripts. This edition also includes useful background information including the Potter family tree and a timeline of events from the Wizarding World prior to the beginning of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

There were other ways Albus and Scorpius could have saved Cedric without ending the world. A) Stop Cedric from ever putting his name in the Goblet of Fire B) Distract Cedric in the maze long enough so he never finishes. I don’t like that Albus is so moody, and they should of saved Fred Weasley and Colin Creevey as well. Their survival wouldn’t change the world, just personal feelings. Like those of Dennis Creevey, George Weasley, and a girlfriend Fred never had 😢😢😢😢😢 And for the “Cursed Child” part, it should have been something cool, like Albus was completely unable to be Sorted at all. So yeah, not my favorite. Ok, fine. I’m sorry. It was a good concept, and I was just being rude. I actually liked it, and would totally want to see the play.

The story line is amazing, but I could only read the sample. Also, add MORE to the sample. We don’t want one scene and then blah blah blah. Ok, bye! ✌️

I was pleasantly surprised by this book (play, whatever). Most reviews are negative, so I went into this with my expectations really low. Well, whaddya know, it was decent. Let me start off with some good things. I’m glad that in this book it clarified that Slytherin isn’t the bad house (it only took what, like 7 books). Malfoy having a son that is decent morally is amazing and the kid’s mom dying, tragic, but chef’s kiss, never thought I’d ever feel bad for the Malfoys. The alternate universe has a nice idea to it, but it’s a far stretch. All in all, some really positive aspects about it (I can’t remember many because I’m rewriting this review and it’s been a while since I read it). Sadly, compared to the other HP books, it’s pretty much a flop. If I had read this without any background as to what other people thought about it, I’d be appalled. The (mostly) amazing writing of the actual HP series vs this thing that’s not actually a book but script of the play, hands down the former is the winner. For starters, Albus is a brat. Yes, he lives in his father’s shadow and such, but he doesn’t have to be so bratty and constantly looking for a way to best his father. That’s not to say Harry is an award winning dad. He has his issues, mainly he lets his friendships get in the way of his son’s. Albus’s bestie is Malfoy’s son? WELL NOT ANYMORE. Also there are some conveniently placed plot holes throughout the story, such as them using time turners. All time turners were destroyed. Also, and this is the biggest one for me, you’re telling me that Voldymort, good old you-know-who did the deed with Bellatrix, and got a child. Is that what’s happening here? Because I refuse to believe it. Voldemort dosen’t feel love, that’s his whole thing. No love or feelings (except negative ones) towards anyone, including his followers. I understand that JKR wasn’t the only one writing this time, which is probably what ruined the book. The writing wasn’t the classic style we associate with HP, and it defiantly wasn’t the same quality of content. I criticize HP, yes, but at the end of the day, I could read it over and over again. Not this book. Once is enough for me. Enough said.
  • Why is everyone saying its bad

I haven’t read the book yet but everyone is saying it’s bad, a waste of money, and doesn’t make sense. I know all the other books are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G but also this book wasn’t written by J.k Rowling herself. I am a huge Harry Potter fan but if everyone is saying it’s bad… P.s my name is my username in Roblox R.I.P dumbledore 😭🥺😢 I❤️ Dumbledore
