  • Interesting read

An interesting read of the old classic that we all knew and saw the film at times the story line was lost in all the different ways the surrounding was described and the various uses of the scientific terms but still a fascinating story to read

Replete with pedagogic taxonomical nomenclature, unprecedented holarctic escapades, unhinging fraternal camaraderie, and comical persiflage this novel is apodictically an indispensable read for seafaring adventure seekers.

At times a confusing story of men imprisoned at sea by Captain Nemo. Their imprisonment was more of an educational adventure that benefits were felt throughout the story. Either way a fun story to read.
  • Very descriptive and imaginative, but not much of a story

Overall, I loved the writing style and the descriptions were so vivid, it felt like I was there. However, there are large parts of the book (whole chapters even) I would skip over where there would be monotonous descriptions of marine life or historical events that had no bearing on the story. It was probably a ground breaking novel of its time, but definitely did not live up to expectations. Don’t expect there to be any satisfying resolution to plot threads that are brought up.

A timeless classic, but at times it gets bogged down in unnecessarily long lists and detailed scientific descriptions of various forms of sea life. But, still, a fun read which inspires me plan my next scuba vacation!
  • Great Book to Teach your children to read.

Read it in 1978, at age 6. Mom used it to teach me how to read; Loved Jules Verne ever since.
  • Messed up formatting

Right now the outside margins are set super high so there’s hardly any text on a page. Hope they get this fixed so I can read the expensive book I paid for ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  • Crazy, interesting, sometimes frightening story

Now that I have finally finished this book, I must say that I am really surprised with how it ended. How I long to have explored the Nautilus and the sea with our three main characters! It requires a bit of patience to read due to the long descriptions of certain observations, but once one gets through them, the tale moves forward again at a pretty good pace.
