ARC for honest review with no compensation Hot Velocity is the 4th book in the Ballistic Cowboys series and the first book I have read ….while reading this book which like the others is a stand-alone I think going back to read the other books in the series will help with some of the questions I didn’t understand….. Rex (T-Rex) Trainor, a Marine combat commander has been placed on loan with the Department of Homeland Security in Montana while waiting to get back with his command after a mission went bad. T-Rex and Homeland Security know that Freedom America is a homegrown terrorist group who may be storing weapons in caves in and around the area. This group has been illusive so far but……when he comes to the rescue of Sierra Daniels things start coming to light. Sierra Daniels recently divorced her abusive husband is determined to begin her life again on her terms. She is a daycare provider and is determined to keep the children safe after a bus they were on was hijacked (from a former book). While outside with the children her ex shows up and threatens her and is determined to make her come back to him…..but T-Rex happens along and things do not go as planned for her ex. While things heat up between Sierra and T-Rex, her ex is determined to get her back at all costs…will T-Rex save Sierra and the children from Freedom America after they are taken hostage? Will he be too late to save them? Will he and Sierra find their HEA or go their separate way? Intrigue, heart pounding suspense, hostages and questions that will be answered …are just a few of the things happening while reading this book!

Mysteries are unraveled and danger continues to mount as we take another delve into the mysteries surrounding Elle James's Ballistic Cowboys series. This entire series has been a really attention grabbing plot and I've really enjoyed it! Rex "T-Rex" Trainor has been on loan to Homeland Security for a little while now trying to help the task force that is trying to figure out who is setting their sights on doing devious missions in the hills of Wyoming. He's just biding his time until he's sent back to his Marine team for his next mission, but he's in the right place at the right time to help a beautiful woman in distress! Daycare worker Sierra Daniels can't believe how lucky she is when a huge muscular man comes to her rescue just when she needs it most, and he continues to do so every time she turns around. She knows she has a lot of baggage from her past, and she knows he's not sticking around for long, but she really likes this guy ... and what can having a little fun while he's in town hurt?

This book takes off with high velocity and continues that breakneck pace. T-Rex Trainor is a USMC Captain dedicated to his career, determined not to get involved with a woman. That's the plan. But, then there's Sierra. I love T-Rex! He has lots of will power, but Sierra just keeps getting under his skin. "The woman had guts and a heart as big as the skies in Montana." I'd say that is a fair description of Sierra. She is quite a woman. Trouble (usually in the form of her abusive ex) seems to find her wherever she goes. That girl has got some moves! She will do anything in her power to keep innocents from being hurt. Go ahead, T-Rex, give love a chance! I voluntarily reviewed an author's copy of this book.

Hot Velocity is the fourth book in the Ballistic Cowboys series. It's a heart pounding, suspenseful story that brought about a resolution to the on-going mystery that connected all four books in this series. Each book can be read as a standalone, though. The first chapter hooked me – I couldn't believe how hard my heart was pounding as I read it. Rex Trainor (T-Rex) is a highly skilled combat veteran and former rodeo star. His last mission left one of his men badly injured. T-Rex has been temporarily assigned to the Department of Homeland Security in Montana until he rejoins his unit for his next combat mission. Sierra Daniels is recently divorced from her abusive husband. She works at the daycare where a bus load of kids was held captive in an early book in the series. When T-Rex comes across Sierra being manhandled by her ex outside the daycare he intercedes to save her. They're both staying at the same bed and breakfast and things heat up quickly between them. The suspense escalates rapidly when T-Rex and the other members of the DHS team find evidence of weapons being stored in caves outside of town. Then Sierra and the kids from the daycare are taken hostage while they are on a field trip – heart pounding suspense! We finally learn who has engineered all of the terrorist threats that were the underlying mystery in this series of books. It was a satisfactory resolution to the Ballistic Cowboys series and I enjoyed reading all of the books very much.
