Everyone knows DAISY JONES & THE SIX, but nobody knows the reason behind their split at the absolute height of their popularity . . . until now.

Daisy is a girl coming of age in L.A. in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock ’n’ roll she loves most. By the time she’s twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things.

Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne. On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she’s pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road.

Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes that the key to supercharged success is to put the two together. What happens next will become the stuff of legend.

The making of that legend is chronicled in this riveting and unforgettable novel, written as an oral history of one of the biggest bands of the seventies. Taylor Jenkins Reid is a talented writer who takes her work to a new level with Daisy Jones & The Six, brilliantly capturing a place and time in an utterly distinctive voice.

This book was full of emotional attachments to several parts in several characters stories. I found myself laughing out loud, and tearing up, and throwing my phone at the couch when scenes made me angry. This book was different than any I’ve read, but I loved it. I recommend it to anyone looking for a good read. I’m very busy, so it took me a while to get through. However, it was really easy to pick back up when I had time. The writing was brilliant. I want to give the author a hug LOL.

Somewhere between a 4 and a 5. I love TJR for the simplicity of her writing while always maintaining a captivating storyline. I felt like this book kept stringing me along but in the best way. A romance that breaks your heart. I loved the incorporation and the song lyrics at the end. This melted my heart!
  • Loved the movie, not the book.

I read the book before I watched the movie. I really wanted to love this book but I couldn’t. It was an easy read, but I felt like the story lacked that something I couldn’t quite put into words. Despite this, I decided to go ahead and watch the movie anyway. I was pleasantly surprised to see the creative liberties taken that filled in the gaps of the book where a little something was left to be desired. Whoever wrote that screenplay, really understood what was missing from the book and made the story so much better.
  • I like it!

I love the way TJR writes, the twist was familiar but a surprise nonetheless. It reads quickly and tells a Hollywood story uniquely. Interesting subject matter, but themes I generally don’t agree with. I enjoyed reading it.

This book is ALL THAT. it’s amazing. It’s in depth, it’s gutsy, it’s funny, it’s GUT WRENCHING SADNESS, it’s surprising (juicy plot twist btw) and entertaining, it’s rock n roll. I’ve never been a “yay 70s” kinda girl, but this book CHANGED me. I will now scour the library shelves for more 1970s-based books. It was that good. It’s in an interview format, which is super cool and great because it shows you all of the character’s perspectives and shines lights on their flaws and thought processes. If you’re considering reading this, please put down your phone right now and read it, iTS THAT GOOD. Ms. Taylor knows what she’s doing.

Struggled with the “interview style” format, and after 200+ pages, called it quits. Not sure why the entire book was written like this, regardless, did not enjoy,
