He was her fantasy.
But having him would get her fired…
Plus, everyone knew that relationships between normal women and gorgeous, talented men were doomed to fail.
Or maybe it was just that Mandy knew that firsthand.
She’d lived that life—always being the one left behind—and wasn’t willing to go there again.
Hockey was Blane’s job, and it was all consuming.
There was no room for her.
But then…Blane told her she was his fantasy, too.
And suddenly, Mandy began to wonder what might happen if all those fantasies became reality.

I was ready to toss in the towel by chapter 4. I read “Backhand” when it was a free download, and I needed to pass the time on a flight. So, I went through my collection of books I’ve read and enjoyed and thought I’d give one of her other books a shot. The book did get better after chapter 3. There were some good parts. Then it got worse as the pages turned but I kept pushing on. Ultimately, this finished with lots of sex, cheesy plot (seriously, the dropping of the fraternizing clause?? That doesn’t fly in professional sports), and a ridiculous proposal. It was a Hallmark Holiday made for tv type scenario. My issue? The story jumps in with little character buildup and immediate stupidity when the two are near one another. She is a physical trainer with the professionalism of a lovesick high schooler. He isn’t much better. From reading Backhand, I expected more substance with mature conversations.
