Don’t miss the JOE PICKETT series—now streaming on Paramount+

Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett must accompany a Silicon Valley CEO on a hunting trip—but soon learns that he himself may be the hunted—in this thrilling novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author C. J. Box.

**Winner of the Western Writers of America Spur Award for contemporary novel**

When the governor of Wyoming gives Joe Pickett the thankless task of taking a tech baron on an elk hunting trip, Joe reluctantly treks into the wilderness with his high-profile charge. But as they venture into the woods, a man-hunter is hot on their heels, driven by a desire for revenge. Finding himself without a weapon, a horse, or a way to communicate, Joe must rely on his wits and his knowledge of the outdoors to protect himself and his companion.

Meanwhile, Joe's closest friend, Nate Romanowski, and his own daughter Sheridan learn of the threat to Joe's life and follow him into the woods. In a stunning final showdown, the three of them come up against the worst that nature—and man—have to offer.

Fast action. Quick read. Shows at least two sides of American Society. Real heroes and real villains.

Game Warden Joe Pickett is ordered by the Wyoming governor to accompany a Silicon valley tech CEO named Price on a hunting trip. The governor then tells Joe if Price dosen’t enjoy himself he will be fired. Shortly after setting up their campsite they are ambushed by a man and his two son’s looking for revenge and blaming his daughters death by suicide on Price. What unfolds is a journey into terror, death and nonstop action and suspense. Another excellent read in this series!! Enjoyed immensely!!

5 Stars. Box just keeps knocking them out of the park. This one was truly edge of your seat stuff. It was also a good illustration of the new world created by social media (the negative parts of it, certainly) that we now live in, along with the great divide our country has developed. None of that is good in any way and Box handled is deftly. Joe a the crew just keep getting better. I love these books.

Typical Joe Picket book. He gets beat up by the bad guys but he always comes thru. A little intrigue. Educates you about the back country and about falconry with lots of blood and death.

Love all about the book except the vulgar language. Totally unnecessary to the story or characters. I’m too old to be impressed by crude words. Your stories don’t need them and neither do I.

A rich story well formed in these current times. Box has kept me engaged with his telling of the Pickett family stories and this latest one did not disappoint.
