#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

CELEBRATING THE 20th ANNIVERSARY WITH A NEW FOREWORD BY THE AUTHOR

Wounded in the line of duty, NYPD homicide detective John Corey convalesces in the Long Island township of Southold, home to farmers, fishermen -- and at least one killer. Tom and Judy Gordon, a young, attractive couple Corey knows, have been found on their patio, each with a bullet in the head. The local police chief, Sylvester Maxwell, wants Corey's big-city expertise, but Maxwell gets more than he bargained for.

John Corey doesn't like mysteries, which is why he likes to solve them. His investigations lead him into the lore, legends, and ancient secrets of northern Long Island -- more deadly and more dangerous than he could ever have imagined. During his journey of discovery, he meets two remarkable women, Detective Beth Penrose and Mayflower descendant Emma Whitestone, both of whom change his life irrevocably. Ultimately, through his understanding of the murders, John Corey comes to understand himself.

Fast-paced and atmospheric, marked by entrancing characters, incandescent storytelling, and brilliant comic touches, Plum Island is Nelson DeMille at his thrill-inducing best.

Wounded in the line of duty NYPD Homicide Detective John Corey is convalescing at his uncles house in rural eastern Long Island. Life is good and he is healing from the three bullit wounds he suffered. Then he is approached by the local chief of police involving the murder of two of his neighbors. He is asked to assist on the cause and the bodies continue to pile up. Non stop action, suspense and heartbreak. An excellent read!! My highest recommendation!!

This book is such a parable of what can and has happened with the technology of weaponizing existing medical diseases. Hmmm just think of the Wuhan Virus.
  • Many many years I read this. I thought I would give it the test of time.

Plum Island was my first Nelson DeMille an I never missed another. Not one. I used to waste time trying to decide which was my favorite but kind of like choosing the favorite kid. I decided it was time to give it another read. Considering my age of 73 I thought might be parts I didn’t remember. Only thing that really stuck was John on the front porch and The Gut. But at least now I know that Plum Island is still my favorite and gets extra credit for opening a world of stories I have loved since I bought it new and hugged it all the way home.

Downloaded this book several years ago and never got around to finally read it...now I’m hooked, line and sinker on cool John Corey. So happy there’s more in the series. Great story and characters. Highly recommend.
