In a society where unwanted teens are salvaged for their body parts, three runaways fight the system that would "unwind" them

Connor's parents want to be rid of him because he's a troublemaker. Risa has no parents and is being unwound to cut orphanage costs. Lev's unwinding has been planned since his birth, as part of his family's strict religion. Brought together by chance, and kept together by desperation, these three unlikely companions make a harrowing cross-country journey, knowing their lives hang in the balance. If they can survive until their eighteenth birthday, they can't be harmed -- but when every piece of them, from their hands to their hearts, are wanted by a world gone mad, eighteen seems far, far away.

In Unwind, Boston Globe/Horn Book Award winner Neal Shusterman challenges readers' ideas about life -- not just where life begins, and where it ends, but what it truly means to be alive.

I had to read this for a project, and blazed through it in 3 days because I couldn’t put it down. The beginning is awesome, the middle section is a little mid, the ending is mostly satisfying, all around an 8.6/10
  • A must read!

I think this book would’ve been great if I could’ve finished it. I think the author just gives too much insight into what the characters are thinking, leaving little to imagination. It just wanted an easy read for me but I would recommend people to try it. Just because I didn’t like it the writing doesn’t mean someone else won’t. Like I said, it’s a good idea for a book.

I had to read this book in middle school, and it was ok then. Then I started to read it now and it’s hard to put this book down now that I have actually seriously gotten into it.

This dystopian really challenged the way I thought about my own views. This society is so whacky and insanely messed up but what’s scary is that when you look closer it’s a lot like our society today. You need to read this just to get you thinking. Also the characters are cool, I like Connor and Risa’s relationship. Really good writing. Good job 👍 put this at the top of your reading list.
