This book is amazing! H. G. Wells is an absolute genius! If you haven't read it yet, you definitely should. And if you have, read it again as many times as you want and it'll be worth it every time.

I downloaded this for my son's school assignment. The individual assignments are based on reading specific chapters, but this version doesn't have the chapters numbered. Ended up downloading an alternate copy to eliminate the guessing.

I have to say I enjoyed the book but would probably have enjoyed it more if I were familiar with the geography in and around London. The main character's actions revolve so much around his movements there, that such knowledge would have helped immensely. Having said that, the tale itself is marvelous and speaks very well for Mr. Wells' imagination. His vocabulary is also well developed so I was constantly using the dictionary function of the iBook reader. An easy read highly recommended for those who like to look backward to see what previous generations thought about the future. Personally I'd like to see some current writer change the ending to have the Marian's live and take the "artillery man's" idea of how the human race should survive and run with that. Could be great fun! jch
