Digo que la vida humana se divide en cuatro edades. La primera se llama adolescencia, es decir, «crecimiento de vida»; la segunda se llama juventud, o sea, «edad que puede aprovechar», esto es, dar perfección, y por eso se le llama edad perfecta —porque nadie puede dar sino lo que tiene—; la tercera se llama senectud; la cuarta se llama senilidad.
