"There being sundry places in holy Scripture wherein the ransom and propitiation made by the blood of Christ is set forth in general and indefinite expressions..."
The Death of Death is an exposition on the atonement. The Church in England had been prone towards tendencies of universalism. This so-called generosity of the gospel tended to make light the nature of sin, and ultimately compromised the meaning of the atonement. Though Owen writes his letter to convict sinners of the deadly powers of sin, the heart of his message is to convince his readers of the power of the cross in extinguishing even… death itself.
This electronic edition features an introduction by J.I. Packer and an active table of contents.
