The need for care and caregiving of Christians and non-Christians alike is an art form requiring skills and a heart of compassion. The needs of human beings are complex, and the solutions to these complex problems require knowledge, insight, and understanding. The majority of home fellowship leaders, elders, deacons, and even pastors often avoid the important pastoral function of caregiving. Though most believers do not require long-term care, all need understanding, empathy, warmth, respect, and discipleship, which require knowledge of the kinds of problems people generally face and how to address them with wisdom. In this booklet, the key elements of caregiving for lay leaders are presented with a focus on the biblical, while minimizing the theoretical. A practical solution is presented along with processes to assist in uncovering reasons for maladaptive or dysfunctional behavior and guidance to help someone overcome problems and move forward in their Christian walk. The question for most leaders is not if caregiving will be done, but will we be effective in the process and do no harm to those God has placed in our charge. I hope this book will help the reader to be used by God as a minister of grace and mercy for the precious souls in need of Christian care.
