Difficult Diagnosis in Pediatric Imaging is a collection of over 200 cases of pediatric imaging either missed or misdiagnosed, mostly by trainees (residents and fellows) for various reasons, most commonly inexperience.
The book consists of six chapters. The first chapter contains fifty cases which are commonly missed by radiology residents who have just started call at children’s hospital. These account for the majority of cases missed by trainees. Familiar with these cases may significantly decrease the number of misses. The chapter may serve as a crash course before call. The seasoned radiologist may skip this chapter.
The remaining chapters include chest imaging, abdominal and pelvic imaging, musculoskeletal imaging head, neck and spine imaging. For each case, there is a description of the findings related to the miss and misdiagnosis. Causes of the errors are analyzed and remedies are proposed where possible. Companion cases are provided with some cases.
