Homicide Detective Eve Dallas hunts a killer who turns a wedding party into a murder scene in the next novel by the #1 New York Times bestselling author, J.D. Robb, Passions in Death.

On a hot August night, Lt. Eve Dallas and her husband, Roarke, speed through the streets of Manhattan to the Down and Dirty club, where a joyful, boisterous pre-wedding girls’ night out has turned into a murder scene. One of the brides lies in a pool of blood, garroted in a private room where she was preparing a surprise for her fiancée—two scrimped and saved-for tickets to Hawaii.

Despite the dozens of people present, useful witnesses are hard to come by. It all brings back some bad memories for Eve who once suffered an assault in the very same room—but she’d been able to fight back and survive. She’d gotten justice. And now she needs to provide some for poor young Erin.

Eve knows that the level of violence and the apparent premeditation involved suggest a volatile mix of hidden, heated passion and ice-cold calculation. This is a crime that can be countered only by hard detective work and relentless dedication—and Eve will not stop until she finds the killer who destroyed this couple’s dreams before the honeymoon even began…

I like the book. Very much in her style. Still can’t get over that D & R only married for 3 years? I want to age like they do, also seems that Coke and Pepsi must be paying JD some money. I hope we don’t see a bunch of other products advertised. It’ll be a little pandering.

It was so incomplete with sections that were given no detail. Interviews that were to happen but then forgotten. The story was so drawn out that it was just words filling the pages.I was so disappointed. I have read all the books and this one is definitely not worth reading.

Three hundred pages of dithering and moaning. I loved all previous books in this series. Was this one written by an assistant?
  • What happened to JD Robb?

Obvious outcome. What happened to plot twists? Where’s the interest? Where’s fleshing other characters, giving the reader something to think about? Not her best.

I have read all 59 JD Robb books and loved every one of them. The most remarkable thing about this book is the obvious effort to make sure every DEI element was included in the first couple of chapters. I have had DEI up to my eyeballs and don’t need it when I sit down to relax with a book. Besides that the whole plot was not up to my expectations. I hope the next book in the series, that I have pre ordered is more like the earlier books in the series. Continue to develop your core characters and don’t be so worried about the current social trends.

I hate so say I was disappointed in this one. I love the series but this book was missing something, missing more of the supporting characters we know and love.
  • Slower paced

Love this series but this book was a lot slower paced than normal. Normally I can’t put these books down but there moments during this book that I had to push myself to keep reading. Overall, still entertaining though. Always love reading about Eve, Roarke and the rest of the crew. Can’t wait to read the next one.
