    We finally had a new one with a robust plot and more than the three main characters in Swamp Spirits after the series had trailed off into each book being irritatingly similar. I had hoped the author got some wind in her sails and was putting in the effort she did for the first several books. Nope. We are back to predictable and unsophisticated. This formula of Gertie causing a ruckus and Ida Belle getting irritated at Gertie and blah blah blah. Enough already. Walter nor Marie have made an appearance in ages. In fact none of the peripheral characters we grew to enjoy so much are written about anymore. And the plots- so predictable. I knew who it was after he was introduced. Ugh it reads like a middle schooler wrote it. Yet I’ll swear now I’m done with this trash but when the next one comes out I’ll probably read it with renewed hope it’s actually good.

    Jana DeLeon series Fortune Mysteries has another winner. The continuation of Carter’s story is not quite done yet but I look forward to the next book in the series. Baskets and Beignets has multiple stories in it but the action is excellent and the mystery will keep you glued to reading the book! There is a possible hint of romance with Carter’s mother and the famous attorney, Alexander. The romance between Carter and Fortune has taken a bit of a slow turn because of the whole Kitt thing. But the ladies are still quite active in solving and investigating mysteries!

    This one is right on line with the other 26 books before. Just when you think you’ve read it all the author comes up with more twists and turns. Happenings in Sinful are just as funny and the character development is unique and unbelievable. Love them all.
