Feyre has returned to the Spring Court, determined to gather information on Tamlin's actions and learn what she can about the invading king threatening to bring her land to its knees. But to do so she must play a deadly game of deceit. One slip could bring doom not only for Feyre, but for everything-and everyone-she holds dear.

As war bears down upon them all, Feyre endeavors to take her place amongst the High Fae of the land, balancing her struggle to master her powers-both magical and political-and her love for her court and family. Amidst these struggles, Feyre and Rhysand must decide whom to trust amongst the cunning and lethal High Lords, and hunt for allies in unexpected places.

In this thrilling third book in the #1 New York Times bestselling series from Sarah J. Maas, the fate of Feyre's world is at stake as armies grapple for power over the one thing that could destroy it.

This book had so many good moments. It felt like this could’ve spanned between 2 books, which is why I loved it so much! It was so good, so many heartfelt moments. From beginning to end, couldn’t put the book down.
  • A bit hokey

If you were to take the highlights of all the magical mystery stories, Robin Hood legends and King Arthur wannabes of the world and wrap the best of these tidbits into one book this would be it I suppose. Which made it too sickening fairy tale like to stomach at times. The other part that I did not like was the way she envisioned the characters behaviors. Some of the gestures made by the key players in the book such as, sticking their tongues out, was just stupid. I stopped reading at one point because it was just kiddie behavior being displayed in characters that were supposed to be strong, mysterious and powerful. Then there’s the vulgar gestures and young’s out??? Really? Anyway, just a bit unimaginative and seriously out of character for the role that the person was supposedly portraying. It was difficult at last to stay with it. Some parts being so predictable it was barely readable. Looked like she was trying to hard to appeal to all audiences. Blending all the current views of today’s world of being tolerant is makes you happy and rich! Oh and you get the love you’ve always wanted and deserved!!! Yuck!

This one keeps you rolling. At times I felt I needed a notebook to keep track of the names, locations and situations going on. Sometimes the story felt a little long, but when you hit a climax, it felt like the build was worth the wait. Characters that you remember from previous books make an appearance again. Some you are surprisingly fond of. Some, not so much. The story ends in a nice little bow that leaves a little ribbon to be tugged at for future stories. At the end, you can think of the characters and the numerous storylines that can be built from and branched off of this one. I anticipate Feyre, Rhys and company could be around for many years to come.

  • Feyre is insufferable.

I find the leading character obnoxious, selfish and immature. Obviously the main message of the book is feminism, which I support, but not to the point of enjoying this obnoxious brat behaving arrogantly for most of this book in the name of equality. When the plot begins to drag, you get another sex scene (seriously, so many), to the point where I think it’s trying to spice up a bad plot and failing miserably. I am wholly convinced that the supporting characters would not even want to be in Feyre’s presence if she was not Rhys’s mate.
