Lethal. Loyal. Legendary.

Enter the world of Throne of Glass with the first book in the #1 bestselling series by Sarah J. Maas.

In a land without magic, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She has no love for the vicious king who rules from his throne of glass, but she has not come to kill him. She has come to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three murderers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she will be released from prison to serve as the King's Champion.

Her name is Celaena Sardothien.

The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. And a princess from a faraway country will befriend her. But something rotten dwells in the castle, and it's there to kill. When her competitors start dying mysteriously, one by one, Celaena's fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival-and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.

Thrilling and fierce, Throne of Glass is the first book in the #1 New York Times bestselling series that has captivated readers worldwide.

I read the physical copy of the book. My review is based on it. I have not purchased this digital copy. It took me over a month to finish this one. It felt boring and dragging most of the time. Not for everyone but I’d recommend it if your a fan of the author

It was ok. Nothing spectacular, the relationships between the characters felt fake, some characters were better written than others, many needed fleshed out more. The plot was the typical and predictable YA trope. The main character worried more about dresses and parties than training , which she would have needed. The story itself felt rushed and many parts unattainable, some even contradictory. No one, no matter their will could suffer from starvation AND be strong bodied. Nor could recovery be obtained in a 2/3 weeks time. I LOVE fantasy however, I like some realism. Not her best work, at all. Will NOT be purchasing the remainder in the series was very disappointing.

Sarah just steals my breath away book after book. I can’t even begin to explain how wonderful this book is. A whirlwind of a beginning. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.

Super super slow and no real action found myself glazing over parts just to get to the end.

This is the type of book that makes you forget you’re reading. It doesn’t even feel like a movie, it feels like you’re there, watching everything happen. HIGHLY recommend for fantasy lovers! :)

Mary Sue main character. It doesn’t feel like she’s an assassin.
  • Overly Ambitious but entertaining

Perhaps this is because I am reading this directly after ACOTAR, but the writing just did not do it for me. The emotional descriptions were not very compelling or detailed, and it felt like there was so much missing context. Overall, I think it was a bit too ambitious, trying to fit such huge stakes, tension, and complexities into the story, that the writing just couldn’t fully encompass.
  • Just started re reading this series bc I love it so much
