Jesús Soto in Conversation with Ariel Jiménez

Jesús Soto in conversation with/en conversación con Ariel Jiménez distills over nine years of conversations between the renowned Venezuelan kinetic artist Jesús Soto (1923–2005), and art historian Ariel Jiménez (former FC/CPPC Chief Curator), provide insight into Jesús Soto’s involvement in the development of kinetic art in Paris in the 1950s and 60s, and his subsequent work in the geometric abstract movements in Venezuela. Soto is recognized today as one of the most important Latin American artists of the century.

The digital version includes excerpts from one of Soto’s last interviews; archival documentaries of the artist at work; slideshows of rare images from exhibitions, including his solo show at Galerie Denise René in Paris, 1961, et al.

Jesús Soto in conversation with/en conversación con Ariel Jiménez presenta más de nueve años de conversaciones entre el reconocido artista cinético venezolano Jesús Soto (1923-2005), historiador de arte y Ariel Jiménez (ex FC / CPPC conservador jefe), que dan una idea de la participación de Jesús Soto en el desarrollo del arte cinético en París en la década de 1950 y 1960, y su trabajo posterior en los movimientos de abstracción geométrica en Venezuela. Soto es reconocido hoy como uno de los artistas latinoamericanos más importantes del siglo.

La versión digital incluye fragmentos de una de las últimas entrevistas Soto, así como documentales de archivo del artista trabajando, imágenes inéditas de exposiciones entre ellas su exposición individual en la Galerie Denise René de París de 1961, entre otros.
