I began photographing walls after observing what they show about the people who live with them. It might be an unintentional splash of paint or intentional graffiti that gets my attention. Worn surfaces on very old or abandoned buildings get my attention. All walls are constantly in flux with changes created by the people who interact with them as well as the weather. My knowledge of architecture is too minimal to appreciate any unique structural characteristics of a wall. What I notice is an out of place brick, a tree planted in an odd place, a long enigmatic shadow or an unusual door or window.
