A wonderful historical novel of the building of the Union Pacific railroad. Insights into the lives of the planners, the builders, and the followers who leeched their lives and money from them were eye opening. A strong-hearted love story is twined within. Good reading for the lovers of wild places. The passing away of these places and their inhabitants, the Native Americans, and the early trappers who appreciated the Indian lifestyle, is a poignant look into the history of our nation.
